I am possibly going to purchase a commercial property in NYC I will need to get an engineer report, (building inspection) and environmental report. How much can I expect to spend from a reputable firm or licensed engineer if the building is 4 stories and 19,000SF
That depends on what they look for. A structural review of that building will only take about 3-4 hours. If you want all of the mechanical and electrical systems evaluated I would toss in another 3-4 hours. I'm in the south where engineers are cheap, but up in NYC you should probably expect to pay 175-250$/hr for a licensed engineer to stamp something as safe. They would have a technical editor or junior engineer prepare the report to be stamped and that would take about 4-8 hours at 50-100$/hr. I would guess between $1250-$2800 total.
