behind and below your left ear is the parotid salivary gland

which can be blocked occasionally from a salivary duct stone which can cause temporary swelling and tenderness.

when the stone is dislodged, the parotid gland swelling can calm back down.

cancer mass would not shrink back down.

let me know if you have questions.
