Customer Question

What do these epstein barr lab test results mean?I have been suffering from numerous mysterious health issues for the past few years: horrible headaches, problems with my right arm (which I believe to be thoracic outlet issues), problems sleeping, constantly tired, vertigo, etc. These all became bad after I got sick for an extended period of time. When I was young, about 10 (20 years ago), I got mono. I was starting to wonder if it had reactivated as my scalp was hurting and I remembered mono caused scalp pain for me. I got an independent test done, and my numbers were all quite high. Can anyone help me interpret these results?EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG 16.6 High U/mL 0.0 - 8.9 (reference)
EBV Ab VCA, IgG 118.0 High U/mL 0.0 - 17.9
EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG >600.0 High U/mL 0.0 - 17.9

This is Dr. David

I am sorry you are not feeling well.

thanks for uploading your blood work.

your blood work definitely show prior ebstein barr virus exposure and antibody development from prior infection

what is needed now is to look for EBV IgM antibody to see if that is elevated.

you can read more here

your ebstain bar virus nuclear antigen looks very high.

so you fall into the category that you have either a prior infection or current reactivation infection.

improving your immune system can help you fight off the ebstein barr virus.

that means getting more sleep, drinking more water, eating healthier, avoiding smoking, avoiding alcohol, eating more fruits and vegetables.

regular exercise can help you improve your immune system and help you with more energy.

you should get your thyroid hormone levels checked as well. abnormal levels can affect sleep.

do you have excessive anxiety symptoms? this can cause headaches and vertigo symptoms.

let me know if you have questions.
