Just diagnosed with Hypo. Have readings of t4=.4 and TSH level of 76.34. I understand upper range of TSH should be under 5. What are the concerns of the extremely high reading? All research I have found does not speak to readings this high. Thanks.

Hi there. No specific concern about the how the TSH is, it does not do any harm. Once you start taking your thyroid replacement, the TSH will start coming down slowly, it will take a couple of months. If you've had symptoms of hypothyroidism for a while, i.e. you've been hypothyroid for a while, you should start replacing the thyroid slowly. Start with a small dose and increase it over several months to let your body adjust.
