So just to be clear, it was the bosses relative who came in and made some type of crude comments to your friend?
Did the boss direct the person to do so?
Ok, I hate to say it, but if the boss didn't play a part in this harassment or direct the person to engage in this behavior, then they can't be held accountable for the person's insulting and ignorant comments to the employee. If this continues, the employee could file a harassment complaint against the person and seek a restraining order for them to have no contact.
But you can only hold the person responsible who has engaged in this type of offensive behavior..
