My employer changed my claimed tips without my consent in writing

Customer Question

My employer changed my claimed tips without my consent in writing or verbally. I only found out when I received my paycheck. I make above minimum wage because I preform manager duties as well. Can he do this without my consent? He did not do this to other employees that make above minimum wage, work more tipped shifts than I and also claim less than I have been claiming.

Hello, I'm unclear on the facts. Do you mean that the employer applied some of your tips as a credit against minimum wage -- or do you mean that the employer reduced the total amount of tips that you claimed?
