I currently work Health company and get paid per visit

Customer Question

I currently work for Home Health company and get paid per visit I make. I am considered a contract employee and received a 1099 from them. I asked to have my taxes taken out by them starting this quarter. The company is saying not sure if they can as legally would have to pay me benefits; I typically work an average of 25 hrs per wk. I am not asking for any type of benefits, just taxes taken by them. I have work for other companies in similar capacity and they take out the taxes. Is it mandatory for them to pay me benefits?

No they are not required to provide benefits unless they have over 50 employees and are required to provide health insurance. You are asking to become a w2 employee.
