I have a punitive and abusive manager at my new job of 7

Customer Question

I have a punitive and abusive manager at my new job of 7 months (at a Healthcare company). After a 1:1 phone conversation with her 2 weeks ago, I had to be taken to hospital by ambulance because of extremely high blood pressure (requiring an overnight stay at hospital).
I've never received any communication regarding performance until I shared this experience with HR. Yesterday, my manager presented me with a PIP. I was totally blindsided and extremely grieved knowing that my work has been excellent.
Friends have told me I should reach out to an attorney. Just saw this website and am interested in getting input.
Thank you
