is my employer permitted to deduct from my paid total hours for the currant week a number of hours performed the previous week?
I am paid on a flat rate basis in a auto dealership & am deducted without my approval occassionally any where from 1 to 5 hrs.

No basis for the deduction. The employer has to pay the agreed rate without such deduction. You may pursue by internal complaint to management, and then through lawyer letter if needed, as well as labor board and court complaints respectively. Kindly let me know if that is helpful.
