Employment Law Questions? Ask an Employment Lawyer.
Hello, and thank you for contacting Just Answer. I am an expert here and I look forward to assisting you today.
Are you asking if employers are required to pay extra pay to employees who have to work on holidays?
no i like to know if employees in florida are required to be paid for holidays not worked, and if they are required which ones are required to be paid. and if they work how are they paid
No, nothing requires an employer to pay for holidays not worked or to pay extra if they are worked. Florida goes only by the standards set forth in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and has not adopted any extra.
If an employee works the only requirement is that they be paid their normal wage unless it means they work over 40 hours and then they are required to be paid time and a half.
is there any place i can get a print of the flsa act
Let me see if I can find it for you. Hold on just a sec.
It is at http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/29/chapter-8
You will have to print each section individually but it is all there for free
There is also a PDF at http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/statutes/FairLaborStandAct.pdf but I couldn't get it to load when I just tried.
