I am a federal employee - less than 4 years until retirment age. I am depressed to the point where I can't do my job anymore. I am looking for an attorney who can negotiate a disability retirment for me. I live in Albuquerque NM. Can you recomend an attorney or tell me how to find one?
Hello and thank you for the question. I am sorry to read of this dilemma. I can recommend an excellent directory. would you like that information?
YES
Martindale.com is fantastic and used by lawyers. Findlaw.com is also very good.
will it list attorneys that specialize in Fed employees?
It will let you search easily by location, practice area and anything else you want to plug in.
I looked at both sites - I can't seem to find one that specializes in FEDERAL workers comp or disability cases. The workers comp stems from an back injury I received at work over 20 years ago. The back has been casuing me extreme pain and that may be the casue of my depresion. So I think the two are related. Federal employement cases would be much different than State or private - would it not?
The lawyer should have experience in federal and state practice. The claims would vary by venue. I would begin with searching under employment law and seek words like workers comp as a subterm.
