I recently had a medical proceedure done and requested that my employer to not pay out any vaction time. But the HR dept told me they can't do that. I have to be paid for the time off. I don't want to use up my Paid Time Off as they call it. Is there a law or can they make a company policy stating that an employee must take their paid time off when absent from work?
The law allows the private employer to implement their own policy. In other words there is no law which regulates this issue. The employer can ask you to use PTO in any EEOC laws.
