As an attorney you should know that you must be licensed to practice law in any state you wish to practice law in and must then decide whether to open up as a sole proprietorship, LLC, or other entity. If anything but a partnership of sole proprietorship is selected (to obtain limited liability protection) then an attorney, as other business owners, must file with the TN Dept. of State and information about that is available here.
Registration to pay taxes in the state as well as federally must be taken care of and then, if employees will be hired, workers compensation, unemployment and other new business filings, as indicated here, also need to be made.
