although e-mail sends and receives, when click on sens/receive in tool bar receive error message Ox 800CCC 90. How do I correct this? should I be concerned?

First, if you can send and receive--but not "on demand"--that doesn't sound too awful.

All the same, inconsistent and unexplained behaviors are not amusing.

Have you tried reinstalling your mail application? That often takes care of sporadic, spurious issues. This is Windows, not some professional OS.
