OK, let's try this... Please visit the AOL website from your phone to log into your email account. CLICK HERE Once you're logged in follow these instructions:
Log in to your AOL account.
Open the "Recently Deleted" folder, which is on the left panel of the "Mail" window.
Check the box next to the message you want to recover by clicking once inside the box.
Click the "Restore" button.

Have you checked other folders to ensure they weren't inadvertently moved to a different folder?
If the messages aren't available in your AOL account via the web, it sounds like they're gone. The only other workaround would be if you typically download a copy of your messages using a computer and email client like Outlook. Do you only use your phone and access AOL via web browser? Or do you also use an email client?
You've said that a few times, but I haven't asked you for access to anything. I also understand you're an expert and you have a masters degree, I'm trying to help you troubleshoot.
