I now use gmail and have MS Outlook 2010 managing my gmail.

Customer Question

I now use gmail and have MS Outlook 2010 managing my gmail. It works fine. The problem is sorting. My old POP email would go directly to the Outlook folder I set up. I have the same folders now that I use gmail but gmail keeps a copy in the "All Mail" gmail folder. If i delete the "All Mail" copy, the folder copy is gone too. I have other folders which I use to copy and paste to save emails. There is a problem there however. If I copy and paste a reply it wants to replace the original. In summary, I have two problems, both related to trying to save gmail.
JA: How long has this been an issue?
Customer: Ever since I had to change to gmail from my old email which was provided by CenturyLink. I stopped the CenturyLink and now have Comcast because it is much faster. That was about one month ago.
JA: How do you access your email most often? On a phone or tablet, or through a web browser?
Customer: I use MS Outlook on my computer.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Am I chatting with a computer or a real person?
JA: Anything else you want the email expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No.

Hello.
Expert:  Pete replied 3 months ago.

Have you tried setting up your gmail account for POP instead?

Expert:  Pete replied 3 months ago.

To do this, try turning IMAP off:

  1. Go to gmail.com and sign in.
  2. In the top right, click on the Settings cog.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  5. In the "IMAP Access" section, select Disable IMAP.
  6. Click Save Changes.

Is that an additional $39 to the $42 I already agreed to?

For $81 I get a portion of your payment.

I can connect to your computer and carry out the previously mentioned steps if you prefer.

I do not want Secure Remote Assistance. I followed the instructions above. POP is enabled for all mail. IMAP is disabled. What do I select for number 2. When messages are accessed with POP ?
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Okay. Now the Outlook is telling me that I am not using IMAP. Yes, I DO want Secure Remote Assistance. Repeat, I do want Remote Assistance.
