Did you try clicking the Forgot Password ***** restore your AOL account yourself?
Unfortunately, if you are getting "You have reached the maximum number of attempts", you will need to wait 24 hours without trying to sign in again.
You may also try calling AOL at 1-***-***-**** ASAP and explain the situation to them. Be prepared before calling them as they may ask you some facts or details regarding your account to proof you are the account owner.
If you can wait for 24 hours, you may come back here and let's restore your account together to make sure you do every step properly.
