I have had a hotmail account for years, but is is now NOT

Customer Question

I have had a hotmail account for years, but is is now NOT SENDING mail, and keeps asking for my password, which it rejects. SOME mail is coming in. I did set a new password ***** my phone about 4 days ago, but on my MAC it rejects everything I have tried. Can't get beyond the password ***** to get to any settings. Easiest to delete account and re-establish? Sounds like a pain!
JA: How long have you had this issue with your Hotmail account?
Customer: Anyone home?
JA: How do you access your email most often? On a phone or tablet, or through a web browser?
Customer: On phone and in my mail function on Macbook.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Can't get past the demand for password ***** I try to send email. My hotmail address on phone functioning both directions, and Macbook will RECEIVE mail, but not send.
JA: Anything else you want the email expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: nope
