I'm getting a Fatal Daemon Error message causing a Force

Customer Question

I'm getting a Fatal Daemon Error message causing a Force Quit after clicking on Quit in that message. any hope of cleaning up the database in order to use the 5,000 e-mail therein? Much business cannot go forward without that database. Dave

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

What version of Entourage are you having this Daemon error with?

What version of MAC OS X is on the computer that is running Entourage, please?

Did this install of Entourage work on this platform previously?

Try the following, which removes Preferences for Entourage, in case those Preferences have become corrupted or a similar problem:

First, exit from all MS Office applications.

On the Go menu, click Home.

Open the Library folder

Then open the Preferences folder.

In the Preferences folder, select and drag the following files to Trash:

  • com.microsoft.entourage.database_daemon.plist
  • com.microsoft.entourage.office_reminders.plist
  • Note If you do not find any such files, this means the program doesn't use any information different from default preferences values. In this case, go to "Remove Microsoft preference files."

Empty the trash (Before emptying the Trash make sure that you have nothing you want to keep in the Trash, of course).

Restart your Mac. And then see how the Entourage program behaves.

Let me know how it goes, please.
