Customer Question

Since yesterday friends have told me that when I send them an email it looks different. When they try to reply they see three dots and in some cases a purple circle. In order to reply to my email they must type my address in. This apparently started a day or two ago after the Geek Squad had run a service on my computer. I had seen this same thing in the middle of some of my emails and even on other sites...like a couple of blogs I go to. They told me they had to clean up some malware. System seems to work fine now, except for what I am being told by the recipients of my email. I checked with the Geek Squad and they told me that I needed to check it out with AOL.

Who is your email provider? AOL?

If you hover your mouse over the dots and circles does some content appear?

Or perhaps it's the Privacy settings within their email. Without HTTPS, they are sent as unencrypted text.

  • Select “Options/Mail Options” on your main AOL Mail screen
  • Choose “General”
