Whenever I receive a "Meeting Request" from someone I click

Whenever I receive a "Meeting Request" from someone I click "Accept" but the acceptance reply only goes to my Outbox and just stays there. It does not actually send the acceptance back to the person who sent me the invite. Can any one advise what might be causing this and how to fix?
