Yahoo is the one email service that actually requires you to pay, if you wish to use a 3rd party email client, such as Outlook.

You can only setup paid Yahoo email accounts in email clients.

If you wish, you can upgrade your Yahoo account to Yahoo Plus at the following site: http://overview.mail.yahoo.com/enhancements/mailplus

Yahoo is one of the few email services that charge for this type of thing. Another option is creating a new email account at http://www.gmail.com Gmail does offer free 3rd party email client support.

What comes after the @ sign in your email address?

If it is @yahoo.com then you will need to upgrade to the Yahoo Plus! service before before being able to use it in Outlook.
