I cannot open my gmail acct ( forgot user name) and the solution

I cannot open my gmail acct ( forgot user name) and the solution under gmail help is to enter my email address and a couple of distorted letters after which the solution will be emailed to me (the same acct. I cannot access)

There are 2 options available to you to try and regain access to your account:


OPTION ONE - CHANGE PASSWORD

1/ Go here https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery?hl=en

2/ Enter your email address you are trying to access

3/ Answer your security Question

4/ Reset Your Password

5/ Login



OPTION TWO - ACCOUNT RECOVERY

If you have tried the above OR if you are not given the option to change your password, you can attempt to verify your account another way by filling out the recovery form. Depending on your answers you may be given immediate access to your account.
The form only shows after you go

Enter your gmail address and on the next page page complete the capatcha (warped letters)


On the next page If you haven’t set up recovery options or can’t use them because they have been changed etc, a link to the account recovery form will appear at the bottom of the page. Often this is via a link "Verify Your Identity"
You’ll need to fill this out to try to get back into your account. DOnt try to recoiver yoru account more than once. You will also need to wait 48 hours for Google to come back to you.

the remedies which you sent me ALL return to the page of instructions which I sent in my original question.
there is no acct recovery link on ANY page. I am using a Mac with safari 10.6.3 if that makes any difference

ok I see, did you enter a recovery email address when you entered the account? If so you can use https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery/forgotusername

Alternatively, if you didnt, try to contact anyone you sent an email to to see if they still have a copy and can tell you what your email address was so you can then use the solution above!

the only thing different from the original solutions in your last reply is to "contact someone who can tell me my email address. I KNOW my address but none of the solutions above will allow access, recovery, or changing of any settings to solve the problem.

1/ you didn't enter a recovery email address when you signed up when Google highly recommended it.

2/ You cant remember your email address (or login - same thing in this case) and you are not accepting my suggestions of ideas on how to remember this

I have read through your replies with the other expert and you did say that you do know your gmail address so that is all you should need.

Below you will find all of the options that google makes available for regaining access to your account. You may not need to do all of these steps the first one may be enough but I have provided them just in case.

First try clicking the following link to start the recovery process:

If you do not know the answer to your security questions you need to click the link that says verify your identity.

You need to then provide them enough information to prove that this is your account, so be as thorough as possible.
