Can you please check at the back / bottom of your Acer laptop for the model of it?
Does your Acer laptop have Windows XP, Vista, or 7 or 8 or 10?
If you connect an extra Ethernet / network cable from your laptop to your internet modem / router device, does internet work on the laptop that way?
