Normally/in most versions, the MENU is also displayed on the TV and not only on the snall screen of the Panasonic.
Then unfortunately, other than the display, the Panasonic has other potential hardware issues.
Are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach? If yes, do you have access to and familiar with a multi-meter and even a soldering iron?
The described symptom would require that the unit be opened up to effect repairs. If not a DIY, then the services of a professional / repair person would be needed.
Alternatively, evaluate other options considering cost of repair, down time, cost of shipping, age, parts availability and comparable prices of newer/better models.
Please post back how you would want to approach this and/or should additional information be needed.
That it does not display to the TV as well would lend to it being suspect.
Would you perhaps prefer a second opinion and/or alternate approach from other members of the site?
The question would be re-opened as I would rather opt out.

If the "...unit is working fine..." then front panel VOLUME control should work; display working or not nor shown in the TV or not.
