I can't open my Sentry safe, model A3860. light is on, key

Customer Question

I can't open my Sentry safe, model A3860. Green light is on, key turns after entering code but will not unlock. Joe Kemp
JA: Just to clarify, have you double-checked the code? And what is the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: I have double checked the code. It's a Sentry A3860, #AF121673*
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: It opened earlier today and have spent about an hour with key/code to no avail. Green light indicates to me that batteries are good (new in 2014)
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

Listen carefully, when entering the code to unlock: Do you hear a 'click' when you press ENTER or complete the code?

If not, the latch is 'dead' and probably the batteries too.

If so, the latch is stuck or jammed... and try rattling it some, to see if that jostles it loose.

Let me know and I will advise you further.
