Select Privacy.Select Clear Browsing Data.Check Clear the cache and Clear cookies and site data, then click Clear.
Are you doing this on chrome?
Whenever you click the link on google App it automatically opens them in Chrome.
Please open chrome > then click on the 3 vertical dots(top right).Then select Settings.

On your google chrome after your click settings > do you see advanced settings menu
Please reboot your tablet by pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds
Do you have any other browsers in the Tablet?
Yes you can uninstall chrome.
Please open chrome > then click on the 3 vertical dots(top right)> what options do you see
Now install firefox and make it default.

Yes, the chrome App. The google app is working fine.

In that case to be on the safe side I would suggest you to go for a factory reset.
A factory reset will restore all your settings to default. Your tablet will be back to new.
