Customer Question

Hi All of a sudden my Panasonic DMR-PWT540 refuses to record to the HDD. When a timer record is set it shows REC1 when it starts, but nothing on the HDD. HDD Management says Files 96 Titles 33 Time remaining 52:33 Used 55:23.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

Can you still replay anything that is already recorded on the hard disk of the DMR-series device in question?

Then the hard disk isn't disabled or anything like that.

Does any error appear? or does the DMR device just appear to be recording and that's that?

(Tell me if this device never recorded anything in your experience... I doubt it, but it's just worth mentioning.)

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
No error messages. Once it showed titles that should have been recorded but was greyed out with an X in a box - manual says "The recording of the programme was not completed because of some reason"!! It's recorded heaps up until a week ago.

Is there any chance that the hard disk is, quite simply, full?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
NO. As I said it reports 52:33 mins empty. And timer record settings report sufficient space!
Expert:  Russell H. replied 8 months ago.

No error messages, recorded OK previously, hard disk not full by any means, and no error messages.

Would you be willing to try a reset of the DMR device, even if it might erase some or all recordings currently on its hard disk?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
No, forget it. I'll go back to Panasonic. Thanks
Expert:  Russell H. replied 8 months ago.

OK. That might be best. I presume that you would rather close this case.
