Hello, and sorry you're having problems.
The problem you're having is often due to the software in the Kindle locking up and it needing to be rebooted. To do this, simply press and hold the power button on the Kindle for 40 FULL seconds, then release and wait a full minute for it to reboot (do no press anything else within that minute). If this does not cure the issue, try that reset up to THREE TIMES and wait the full minute to see if it reboots.
If you're still running into problems, then try plugging the Kindle into the charger for 15 minutes, then eject it and try the reboot a couple of more times.
If the device still does not work beyond that, then please reply back with the Model of the Kindle and also the AGE of the unit- and we can proceed.
Feel free to reply back if you need more help, or want to reply back with more details. It does not cost you anything more to reply back once you've rated. Rough age- meaning how long ago did you buy it?
Also model- like Paperwhite, Fire, etc.?
No. Replying does not cost extra. In fact, I am not paid anything at all until you rate me, so please reply back so we can get this sorted.
Yes and I cannot take a phone call. I have to run now, since I don't have the info I requested at 11:30, so I will opt out at this point. Someone else should be along to help you.

So you have to hold the power button for atleast 40 seconds.
Tell me if it makes any difference to your problem.
Did you drop the Kindle somewhere?
As of first step we will make sure that your volume is turned up by tapping the volume up button at the side of the Kindle. Please check through Settings > Display & Sounds.

Did you follow the video manual?
In that case I am sorry to say it's a problem with the internal speakers.
What is the age of your unit?
Is it under warranty?
Kindle's Speaker has gone bad and the only option left is to replace the speaker. For that you have to send it to Amazon because amazon directly supports and services the Kindle. You'll need to call them, and obtain an RA# ***** to sending it. In some cases Amazon will give a new unit at less cost.
You can contact kindle support at
