Customer Question

I have a vintage Yaesu FT-840. On the back there are two adjustments labeled COMP and the other is marked Delay. I have no manual. Do you know what these do and how to adjust them? Thanks,Richard McDonnell (*****@******.***

Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

COMP might be the speech compressor level.

As for Delay... that would appear to be scan delay.

The manual? here it is:

I'll be looking up my initial opinion there, meanwhile.

OK, here's the word from the manual:

DELAY serves to set the CW semi-break-in timing. (Page 20 of manual.)

COMP sure enough, is speech processor compression. (Page 19 of manual.)

If this answers your question in full, please rate my answer. Thanks!)
