I have a VSX-406 receiver. Any speakers connected to the left

Customer Question

I have a VSX-406 receiver. Any speakers connected to the left side sound awful (crackling, static) but the same speakers hooked up to the right sound fine. This happens with both the A and B speakers.
I'm wondering if this is an easy fix for me if I can find the correct parts (and if so, what are the part numbers) or an easy and relatively inexpensive fix for a good repairman. It works fine otherwise, and also still works well with all of my components, which might not be the case if I have to replace it.

I've been looking into this issue, and its likely caused by an electronic component that has a bad solder joint or has failed on part of the left audio circuitry - a good repairman can diagnose which component has failed by taking some test readings and comparing to schematics for the receiver, then replace any parts that are out of spec and restore the system to working order again. You can expect to pay around $100 for this type of repair.Pete.
