Can I take a drone with a lithium ion battery of 68 Watt-hrs

Customer Question

Can I take a drone with a lithium ion battery of 68 Watt-hrs (this is within the Spirit Airlines guidelines for lithium batteries) as a carry-on? The TSA site says some airlines do not allow hover boards and drones. I can not find any info on Spirit to say whether they have any restrictions on drones.

Hi there and welcome

The FAA allows this Sarah, you can read this here

https://www.faa.gov/about/initiatives/hazmat_safety/more_info/?hazmat=7

For Spirit, A maximum of one spare battery not exceeding 300 watt hours (Wh) or 25 grams equivalent lithium content (ELC), or two spares batteries not exceeding 160 Wh (13.5 grams ELC) each may be carried in carry-on baggage.

So you are ok, as your within this
