Is a SONY RDR-HDC300 compatible with universal remote controls?

Hi. This is always hard to tell for sure. Usually Sony being a well known brand it is usually supported by many universal remote control (some time you have to change the infrared channel of the Sony DVD player (it got 3 different ones) because those remote only support one of the three, look at page 73 of your manual to know how to do this).

The Bose remote code booklet list Sony in the DVD section as code 0000 so it "should" work if you try all the 3 infrared channel i mentioned (remember that if you change it on the DVD player, you also need to change it accordingly on the original remote so that those stay in sync, that is explained in the manual also).
