Customer Question

I have a JVC cassette receiver KS-FX201. The unit is displaying "reset 4" when I try to play cd's. Resetting the unit as per the manual does not resolve the problem. I have also tried unplugging the cd cassette unit and restarting it with no cd's in the cassette but it still comes up with "reset 4" and won't play cd's.

Could you please tell me if there is a simple solution or do I have to take it somewhere to be repaired?

Optional Information:
Make: JVC
Model: KS-FX201 (12 disc cassette)

Already Tried:
I have tried resetting the unit as per manual, unplugged cassette unit and I also tried removing the cd's from the cassette but still came up with the same fault "reset 4"

ElectronicsPete :

Hello, I am Pete, and I'll be happy to assist with your question today.

ElectronicsPete :

This can occur if the CD changer is unable to read the CDs.

ElectronicsPete :

Try running a CD cleaning disc in the changer, and let me know if this resolves your issue.

ElectronicsPete :

Thanks,
Pete.

Customer :

I won't be able to get a cleaning disc until tomorrow. The manual that I have with the unit (came with the car) is not in english so I don't know what "reset 4" refers to. Hopefully it just is the disc reader that needs to be cleaned.

ElectronicsPete : Ok, let me know how it goes.

Hi have tried that and made no difference. It still says reset 4. Do you know what reset 4 is?

Reset code 4 on your JVC system means that the changer is unable to read the disc.
This is usually caused by a dirty disc or reading lens.
It can also be caused by a faulty reading lens, a failed laser, or a faulty motor.
