Hi there about a month ago I sent Hewlit packard an email asking if there was anything I could do about the electronic picture fram I recieved as a gift. the first quit working just short of a year which you very kindly replaced. Due to moving it wasn't until about 6 months later that we loaded pictures on to the new frame and set it up to enjoy, when much to my dismay. This frame has also died. Is there a division that fixes these frames? They are not cheap and I don not wish to throw it out....but what do I do with a picture frame that does not work. I still have the receipt, the box it came in and everything. I really love the idea of the frame and that 1 frame displays 100's of pictures! Would appreciate any help you could offer.

Hello, my name is Rusty. I would love to help you, but I need more information. How long have you had this frame? Your warranty starts when you get the frame, not when you bought the initial frame.Where in Canada do you live?
Hi Rusty, The Warranty on the frame is up, ( we recieved the second frameend of October 09) as I stated unfortunately we did not get a chance to load pictures on to it well into 6-8 months after we purchased it due to moving. The frames seem to last about 9-10 months and both have just mysteriously stopped working. Not sure if this is a bug, if this is a problem with 1st generation frames...not even sure if this is a first generation frame. regardless, I now have this electronic frame that is of no use. I tried emailing hewlett packard directly, but I guess consumers do not even warrent a "to bad so sad for you", response. I am not to sure what else to tell you about it. Ilive in Sherwood Park Alberta. Edmonton is very close if you are sending me an address of where I can get it fixed. Thanks for your prompt response! Jeanette
Ok, it's going to be hard for you to find someone to repair it, because it's made of tiny digital components (I love Edmonton by the way, you have a huge mall). Any full service electronics repair shop will be able to tell you over the phone if it's fixable or not. I have not had any luck getting anyone to repair frames for my customers. They're on the low end of the important list for repair shops, but it's worth a shot for you to call around. The downside, it may be cheaper for you to buy a new frame. $50/hour is the cost of labor, plus you'll have to buy the parts. Something to remember: HP makes computers, and they do a good job. They don't make electronics, but they put their stamp on a frame, not their specialty, and they break down... Hmm.... Read reviews on cnet.com before buying anything. Do a google.com search for "[product model number] review cnet" and you will see what other people have to say about the product. If you are considering another frame if you cannot get that one fixed, I recommend Viewsonic. Click here. You can read the reviews, they're inexpensive, and they focus on frames. If you want to copy your pictures to a card, plug it in the frame and go, this is your frame. Make sure you turn the frame off before inserting or removing the card.Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the reply and the help. I guess I thought you were connected to the hewlett packard company. I appreciate the info about the viewsonic picture frame. I just have a couple more questions...i do not believe the HP had somewhere to put a card, you downloaded on to the frame...is this the same with the viewsonic? and have you had issue with the viewsonic doing the same thing.....at 50-100 dollars for a 5x7 frame...I will stick with discs and photo albums as I am tired of throwing good money out the door, whether it be mine or someone elses. The HP frame was originally a christmas gift. It is unfortunate that there is nothing I can do with this frame other than throw it out. Thanks for your support.
Jeanette
The Viewsonic loads it's pictures from an SD card. You can take the card out, fill it up on your computer, and put it in the frame. That way you can change which photos it displays by inserting another card, or changing the files on the card.
