Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, the described symptom almost always indicate that the laser / optical pickup is unable to read the data off the discs. This could either be a dirty disc or a dirty lens or in some instances, the laser itself has grown weak.

Offhand, the only easy user doable try of a fix is to clean the laser lens using a cleaning disc for such purpose similar to the product shown HERE.

All others would require that the TEAC be opened up for visual inspection, voltage & laser emission measurements, confirm fault and effect repairs.

Should this be the case, are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach? Are you familiar with electronic components, have access to / comfortable in the use of a multimeter and perhaps even a soldering iron/hot-air station?

Would either of the above be an acceptable approach and serve your purpose?

Hi Benimur,

Thanks for reply I did think that it could be dirty considering its located close to an outside door and low to the floor, so will try your first option and then get back to you soon as.

Thanks for your early response but its a bit late to do any thing right now so will give it a go later on this morning.

Yes am familiar with multimeter and soldering equipment but will leave that till last resort.

Many thanks

Great! Glad that the issue has been resolved, congratulations.

Cleaning would address the dirt/dust on the lens. In some other instances, spraying the inside with compressed air would also help.

Good luck and thank you for asking JustAnswer.
