We have a Sharp XE-A203 cash register, which is a few years

We have a Sharp XE-A203 cash register, which is a few years old. It is displaying "H" and we have replaced the batteries, and the unit is plugged in. What else can be amiss?

Try pressing the 'CL' clear button.

Craig :

This fault is not listed at all anywhere that I can find.

Customer :

I tried that. I tried pushing all buttons. The only button that functions is the feed button.

Craig :

Unplug the register for 1 minute, then proceed.

Important: This must be done with the batteries taken out of the register!
1. Insert the manager (MA) key into the mode switch and turn it to the REG position.
2. Insert the plug into the AC outlet. The buzzer will sound three times.
3. The cash register is initialized. The register will display "0.00"
4. Re-install the batteries

Customer :

Will try this. Give me a few minutes as CR is in another area.

Customer :

It worked. At first. As soon as I tried to use the CR, it reverted to the "H" error button again, and redoing the above process has not helped. It will not clear the "H" error.

Customer :

Your program is corrupt. Try again then go right to program mode

Craig :

Before you start operating the cash
register, you must first initialize it, then install three new alkaline batteries LR6 (“AA” size) on the register.
Otherwise, distorted memory contents and malfunction of the cash register will occur. For this procedure,
please refer to pages 8 to 9.

Customer :

I can't touch anything without it going straight to "H" error.

Customer :

I can't get to the initializing process.

Customer :

do you have an 800 number so I can talk to you during the process?

Craig :
