Customer Question

Hi,
I have a Yamaha RX 387 which I've brought back from the USA to the UK and would like to convert it to work on 220v.
Is there a simple way to rewire the transformer to allow this?

DIYrescue :

Hello, I'm Nathan and I will be assisting you today. Please remember to rate/accept my answer when we have finished. Thank you.

DIYrescue :

Leon, if you look at the back of the receiver, right under or to the side of the power cord connection, you should see a small, recessed slider switch, that should let you select 110 or 220 input, no rewiring should be required.

Customer :

Hello,

Customer :

There's a switch for setting the speaker impedance, but nothing for the voltage.

Customer :

this may be the result of my typo...the model is 387....appolgies.

Customer :

and again.......the model is correctly 397

DIYrescue :

Sorry, you posted 2 different things here, once more please, 387 or 397?

Customer :

Sorry for the mix up. The last one was the correct number (397)

if it does not have a 220 volt transfomer, it will not be easy. changing the transfomer is more expensive with labor than buying a receiver that will work.
