Customer Question

Purchased a new HP Officejet Pro 8600 wireless printer. Hooked it up directly to my pc computer and not using wireless option at this time. My wife has a lap top with a modom to my computer. She has access to internet through my computer. How do I get her laptop to connect to my new printer. It was connected to my old HP printer. I have windows and a Dell computer.

Please follow the steps below from your wife's computer with Windows XP:

1- Make sure the printer is turned on

2- On your Windows XP computer, click Start

3- Then click Control Panel, and then "Printers"

4- Now click "Add a printer" on the left

5- Click Next

6- Select "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer"

7- Click Next

8- Select "Browse for a printer" and click Next

9- Select your printer and click Next

10- Follow the prompts to finish the installation

11- Wait 60 seconds, then try to print

Does it work?.

Customer replied 366 days and 23 hours ago.

Step 8-went to Browers clicked next

Step 9. Options I had were: Microsoft windows network, MS Home, Jan, Workgroup.

Above that it said select one and then had a space for Printer___________. I put in HP Officejet Pro 8600 for each of my options. Card came up with red X and stated that windows cannot connect to the printer-could be lost to server or wrong name.

Printer information: Status=Doc waiting.

Hello Jim, I apologize for the very long delay.

The printer needs to know the name and the password XX your wireless network. In order to configure it, please follow all the steps found on link below:

Click here -----> http://goo.gl/FlpcQ

Select your Windows version and then follow all the steps found there.

Please note I do NOT work for HP so please do NOT leave me a negative feedback in case you are not satisfied with them. Thank you
