Anthony's TV :

Hello I have loved Electronics since I was 5 years old I have been servicing Electronics for better than 20 years

Anthony's TV :

Does the unit erase what was on the tape previously?

Customer :

I have not tried that........

Customer :

The tape was blank to start with

Customer :

Are you still with me?

Customer :

HELLO

Anthony's TV :

you need to try that

Anthony's TV :

it tells us alot

Customer :

you want me to try that now?

Anthony's TV :

yes

Customer :

ok.....please give me a few minutes

Anthony's TV :

ok

Customer :

it erased what was on another tape

Anthony's TV :

OK thats good that means the rec circuit works

Customer :

what do you think is the problem?

Anthony's TV :

the problem you are having is going to be in the input switching or possibly a dirty rec play switch

Anthony's TV :

which is a very common issue with older recorders

Anthony's TV :

this is a long slide switch with 20-30 contacts in it

Anthony's TV :

a good spraying with contact cleaner should solve it

Customer :

the unit was advertised as being restored and tested

Anthony's TV :

then check your inputs again

Anthony's TV :

and make sure the source is selected while recording

Customer :

I have a good tech here in town and will do that

Anthony's TV :

otherwise you have a problem and the unit was not as they advertised it

Customer :

I understand where you are coming from

Anthony's TV :

the important parts seem to work this issue is pretty minor and he should be able to solve it easily

Anthony's TV :
