I recently download 5 new books on to my wife's eReader and she is now experiencing problems. She is attempting problems in reading one of the new books (Hide by Lisa Gardner) . She had read 7% of the book and shut it down overnight. Now when she attempts to continue reading the book drops out and the following message appears"The contents you are trying to view are locked. Please update your library to access your books-press the "shop" button and select "update library" I went online via a USB lead(we are not using wireless) and attempted to sync but it indicated that the library was already synced Last night when I download the new books and the eReader and sync was completed in both instances Can you advise pleaseMy wife has just tried previously downloaded and read books and their contents are also lockedIt is now 0012 hrs - please communicate by email and I will followup in the morning
Already Tried: see my note
Hi and welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX will be assisting you today.
Updating your Library isn't the same as syncing. With the eReader plugged in, press the shop button then update library. This will update the listings and allow you back access to your book(s) again.
Thanks Carl _- I omitted to mention that I had completed the update process several timesThe problem was still present when I shutdown last night but this morning without any further action the eReader was functioning properly so I still do not know what the problem was.One thing that puzzled me with the update process was that when I actioned the update I was then taken to another screen that said the wireless connection was switched off. As we do not use a wireless connection what is the purpose of going to this screen
Is this a Kobo eReader or something else like a Kindle?
Definitely a Kobo reader
Ok, just making sure. This is a common Software Glitch with Kobo's. You'll have to reset the eReader back to factory then resync.
Here's what I want you to do:
1. On your Kobo, press 'MENU'.
2. Select 'SETTINGS' from the list using the D-Pad.
3. On the 'Settings' screen that appears, select 'ADVANCED' by moving the D-Pad to the right.
4. Select 'RESET DEVICE NOW' Your Kobo will now be restored to factory settings and the content should now be able to be opened after you reload your eBook collection.
(Note: Please ensure that you set the correct date and time after the factory reset procedure as it is important for your bookmarking.) Hope this helps my friend.
