My 2003 Acura RL GPS shows DVD reading error and won't boot up. It says to see a dealer. They charge $120 just to diagnose. Any ideas?

Welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXX I'm an professional technician here to assist you with your question. When it gives you the DVD error, do you put in a DVD or a CD?Also, does it work with any other CD's or DVD's?
The GPS DVD is already in the player. It boots up when you start the car. It has worked for about 8 months but has given me that message on and off for the last month, but continued to boot to the gps screen. Just Saturday, it stayed on the DVD reading error message. I don't put any other dvd's in the player.
With the DVD being in there for a long period of time, it can damage the disk and make that error message appear. Please take out the disk and tell me if you see any discoloredment on the bottom of the disk.
I don't see anything wrong with the dvd. I also put in the old dvd and it didn't work either.
Does it work with any type of CD, even a music CD?
My understanding is that it only takes the OEM dvd for this gps . I have never put anything else in the player. Only the programmed dvd.
