The semi conductive coating under the rubber buttons will wear out over time and the buttons will become sluggish or not respond. Have you considered a replacing the remote?
I just now tried pressing the mute button firmly and it seems to work better, and I haven't thought about replacing the remote, but now I see that it is a possibility, so if it continues to act up i will replace the remote. thank you.
