Paul E :

Hi. Does the WP 500 still work ? If so,

  • Insert the disk into the Brother Word Processor floppy drive.

  • When the WP Index is displayed, select the "Menu" choice. The Menu will display.

  • Use the arrow keys to select the "CONVERT" choice, then select "RETURN." CONVERT should be highlighted.

  • Select the down arrow key to display the next menu.

  • Arrow up or down to select the appropriate choice displaying conversion from a .wpt file to a .txt file format.

  • Arrow up or down to the correct file and select "RETURN."

  • Write the file to an IBM compatible disk.

  • Insert the disk with the converted file into the PC and open word. Hopefully it will now see the documents as compatible

  • Paul E :

The only problem is that the "formatting" of the documents may be different, so a bit of work may be necessary to get the documents back to normal .

This solution is available virtually verbatim on the website from which I got information about this website. It generates documents that take days to reformat.
