Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

There are only 3 possible causes for the SR5003 to kick into auto-protect mode:

  • speaker and/or speaker wires fault;
  • systems glitch;
  • internal hardware fault.

Disconnecting everything have removed the possibility of wire strands inadvertently touching each other. Next to check would be the impedance of the speakers with the use of a continuity tester. Each should read no lower than 6 Ω.

If it were a systems glitch, then a reset maybe tried. The reset would force the SR5003 to revert to factory defaults removing glitches/errors in settings & configurations as well as memories, preset and user preferences. To reset:
  • power ON;
  • press and hold the SURROUND MODE and the CLEAR buttons for 3 seconds or more.

Should none of the above be corrective, then it would most likely be an internal hardware fault. Options then are:
  • consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair if and only if very familiar with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM, a soldering iron/station and safe working practices with electrically powered devices. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least, a schematic diagram would be a necessity;
  • should you be uncomfortable with a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of an authorized Service Center (specially if still under some form of extended warranty) or a qualified professional.

Good luck and thank you for asking JustAnswer.

All speakers have been tested. Right now the receiver is sitting with nothing connected, I unplugged for 30 minutes, plugged it back in and still have the rapid flashing. The Marantz Manual troubleshooting states that the

In some cases, the "STANDBY indicator may blink slowly, twice per second." & also "In rare instances, the unit may enter standby mode and the STANDBY indicator may blink rapidly, 8 times per second. In this case, unplug the power cord and request service at your nearest service center." I have already had it in for warranty and all they did was a button press configuration, but that took 2 weeks just for them to do this. The standby light doesnt flash 8 times per second and still will not turn on, so what do I do next. I will not be without a receiver for 2 weeks just so that they can press buttons to get it to come back on.

I understand and has opened up the question to enable other members of the site to further view your concern. Another answer would be provided should one be available.

Again, good luck with the Marantz.
This is not a Request for Information but an FYI.
