Hello and thank you for using Just Answer.

Most problems with Kindles are usually caused by a reset. Let's attempt that first.

To reset Kindle 1, you need to open the back cover first. Turn your Kindle over so that the back cover is facing you. Slide the back cover off by pressing the cover firmly while sliding the cover to the right with your thumbs. Use a paper clip to press the reset button on the top left of the battery. The kindle will flash a few times and reset.

If it's a Kindle 2

1. Slide the power button and hold it for 30 sec.

2. Release the button and wait for 20 sec until the screen begins to flash.

3. As soon as it does, plug in the power and charge it for a few hours.

Let me know if this works.
