Thin vertical red line on screen - Sony Bravia LCD 46in? Any resolutions to this?
Unfortunately, the thin red line is caused by LCD panel being defective. There is no other way of fixing this other than replacing the LCD panel.Repair cost might exceed cost of a new unit. For an accurate estimate please provide model#
The thing about the line is that it goes away after about 10-15 minutes. Does this indicate a cost-effective repair issue?
No,it makes no difference. The line being red indicates a defective TCP ic( an integrated circuit that drives the TFT transistors inside panel)-not repairable, needs replacement of LCD panel.Only a thin black line would indicate a possible bad connection on a ribbon cable.Sorry, but the only choice is to replace LCD panel
This is unfortunate. A few more questions. Do know if this defect would have been covered under warranty? Also, would the red line occur as a result of moving or jostling the TV, or would it simply have happened regardless?
Yes,this kind of defect is covered by manufacturer warranty.
As long there is no cracked LCD panel, panel can be replaced under manufacturer warranty-as long the tv is still under 1 year old.I recommend taking unit to a Best Buy store, they will ship it to nearest Service Center, and it will get fixed in about a week.
No,you could not cause this defect by moving the set,it just happened(is a common issue with all LCD panels)
