I have an old but still good 3000S digital piano. just got a new iMac OSx Sierra. Bought new MIDI cables from Roland. Driver doesn't work. What next?
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: Bought it new in 1988. 3000S
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: just tried to connect couple weeks ago. nothing.
JA: Anything else you want the instrument expert to know before I connect you?

Did the driver for the new MIDI cables not work?

Or was it the driver for the 3000S ? if so, it may have no driver for MAC OS X Sierra, owing to its being from a very long time before there was even MAC OS X 10.1.

Getting the driver to work may be a hopeless case... but tell me where you got the driver from? there might be a better source, for a better driver that would work. You never know... with information from you as to what source failed (so that I don't look in that place for sure), I can do a search for that rather unlikely thing, a driver for MAC OS X 10.x for a device from 1988. It will probably fail, but I can do that search, with that much information.
