Some of the patch and sound buttons on my Roland JX 10 don't work properly and have to be pressed many times in order to get the right sound to appear. Can I fix this problem?
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: Roland super JX 10. from 1987
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I have not opened the keyboard as I am not much of a technician.
JA: Anything else you want the instrument expert to know before I connect you?

Hello my name is ***** ***** I am a Roland certified technician. Just a couple of questions to make sure I understand what is going on. If you work a button say piano When you depress that button does it not change to piano or does it change to something else and then after continued pushing it finally comes up as a piano? also are all the buttons acting like this or the same ones each time? Are there buttons that work ok all the time?

When you start the super JX its on A1. When you press B7 nothing happens. Only after trying a couple of times will it eventually change to the desired sound. Its as if there is not contact.

this is true for most of the A through H and 1 through 8 buttons. Are you familiar with the synthesizer I am referring to?

Some always work, many of the buttons seem to not work as designed.

Not that exact model. I tried to bring it up from the Roland tech site but it is down at the moment so I can not see it right now. Is this something that just started and did all the ones that don't work all start at the same time or has this been getting worse and worse?

The keyboard has been in my storage for 6 years. I remember that sometimes very rarely this problem would present itself before.

Is there a place that fixes these synths? I love the sound.

Well that is good at least we don't have to worry about mold and corrosion. Yes there are Roland authorized service centers around the country, we are one of them. What you are running into is probably bad tac switches under the buttons which would have to be replaced. If you can give me your Zip code I can direct you to the nearest one
