This is a very specific midi problem relating to triggering a lighting controller via a keyboard.I have a variety of Roland keyboards, one of which is a Fantom X7. The lighting controller is a Stairville DJ-X 16 which works fine with my icolor4 lights. It has a midi in for external control. I can get the external control to work well by playing appropriate notes on the keyboard when the keyboard midi out goes into my computer software sequencer. The signal then goes back out of the computer midi out to the lighting controller. None of that is a problem. The difficulty occurs when I hook up the midi out of the keyboard direct to the midi in of the light controller. Then only repeated key presses produce a random response from the controller - there is no apparent pattern as to whether the lights come on or not and for how long. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Already Tried: I have made sure midi channels of keyboard and controller are matched. I have checked midi is being received by the controller. I have had it working successfully via the computer sequencer.

That's fine. I am in conversation with the music store where I purchased the light controller and I am hoping there will be a solution. Thanks for trying.
